How Home Automation Enhances Home Security?

Home automation has become a well-defined expression in modern times. Some use it for decorative purposes like enhancing the ambiance by lighting their homes exquisitely, while some use it for security measures as burglar alarms, close circuit cameras installed at the entrance of the house, or as advanced controllers for voice recognition.
With artificial intelligence programs, home automation has proved to be very effective in enhancing the security of our homes. With crime on the increase, all of us need to keep our houses and families secure from burglars and criminals prowling around our houses. In other words home automation fortifies our house and families against intruders. It also warns the homeowners if there is a fault or problem, so that it can be taken care of in time.
There is a variety of security equipments available in the market. All may not suit your purpose. You have to pick and choose according to the needs of your office or your home as you might necessarily not need all the choices offered on one security system.
Home security systems can be of two kinds, wireless and wired. For instance a person staying in a rented house would prefer a wireless security system as he will not interfere with the basic structure of the apartment, while a person who owns the house can exercise his choice. Surveillance cameras are a very integral part of your security system. Whenever your doorbell rings, you can know who is at the door, friend or foe, just by switching on your surveillance cameras and watching on your split screen monitor.
There can be added features like the options of floodlights with colored cameras, just as the entrance door opens. It is not just the outsiders who need to be kept under vigilance. There can be people like helping hands, maids, baby-sitters and older people at home who need to be watched time and again. A wireless camera can be very handy in such situations.
Smart home security system is another breakthrough to provide ultimate security in home automation. In case of a fire, this system, not only warns the residents, but also informs the emergency fire services about it. It can also locate the exact location from where the fire erupted and check the levels of harmful gases like carbon monoxide in the atmosphere.
In more sophisticated places, facial recognition software is installed along with security codes to differentiate between friend and foe, and to prevent unwanted or unwelcome guests inside the house. These systems also keep a constant watch on the residents. On perceiving any untoward behavior on their part, it sends alerts to family members. This can be effective in houses where there are elderly or convalescing members.
Home automation does much more than just protecting you from burglars and criminals. Your home computers can also be employed to control electrical appliances. They detect any malfunction in your wiring or electrical gadgets, and warn you before hand. This can avert major disasters like fires caused due to short circuit.
The sensors of your sprinkler system can very effectively prevent any fire just by detecting the presence of smoke. Similarly, closed circuit cameras at home and office can help you in keeping a constant check for ensuring maximum security.
